Preparing for Specific Scenarios

(Professional Develeopment Workshop)

Course Summary

This workshop will focus on key scenarios such as Kidnap and Ransom, insider threat and major infrastructure failure and the strategies that should be employed.

Course Content

For clients who may already be concerned about specific threat events, a range of courses can be provided awareness of a challenge, through to exploring precisely how an organisation can and should prepare for these eventualities. For the Kidnap and Ransom example, a current Special Forces negotiator would describe the stages through which negotiations pass and the options open to responding organisations or those caught up in the event. For the infrastructure example, the implications of the failure and the timelines of recovery and effects generated would be discussed.

Delivered by instructors with world-class specialist law enforcement, military or information security expertise and experience.

Delivery Method 


The University of Northampton will deliver this programme. To ensure the delegates receive the best possible experience, delivery staff will comprise of a combination of approachable and experienced in the real world academic staff and subject-matter experts, including current / recently retired members of the Special Forces, other defence practitioners; industry experts (e.g. crisis management in UK utilities). The experience and insight of the external resources combined with the academic delivery provides a truly unique experience.



This programme is a non-credit bearing professional development workshop that will provide all attendees with a University Certificate of Completion.


Entry Requirements

Whilst no formal qualifications are required for entry, we would expect all attendees to be able to work at a minimum of degree level.
